A couple step away from the warm lights of a late-night cinema and into a street that no longer behaves like the world they left behind. The man walks on in a red leather jacket while his shadow stretches ahead of him, gradually becoming something monstrous; beside him, the woman has begun to notice what he has not. Along the opposite pavement, bare trees throw impossible zombie-like shadows across the ground, as though the horror inside the cinema has followed them outside. Above the street, an enormous yellow moon takes on the suggestion of a skull, watching over the scene as the last traces of safety disappear behind them.
This SongScape interpretation of Thriller turns the song's collision of music, fear and transformation into a vintage screenprinted comic-book nightmare, using heavy ink, halftone texture and an intentionally restricted 1980s horror palette. A darkly playful artwork about the moment an ordinary night crosses the line into something thrillingly supernatural.
